Red Dead Redemption II: All Homestead Hidden Stashes Locations Guide

Although you can practically rob any house in Red Dead Redemption 2, some of the homesteads you find during your exploration are richer than others. These RDR2 homesteads also have some background stories you can discover, or play a role during specific Companion Activities.

Because the Red Dead Redemption II home robberies allow you to earn some extra-cash; finding these homesteads and robbing them is quite important.

There is a total of 7 Red Dead Redemption 2 homesteads you should focus on and claim the rewards they hide. Furthermore, if you follow their owners over time, you’ll be able to witness various events

The Red Dead Redemption 2 Home Robberies, just like Coach Robberies, Shop Robberies and why not Train Robberies, have sequences you need to complete.

The first one is finding the loot or in this case the hidden stash, and the second one is to escape the premise.

Obviously, you can approach each robbery in various ways. You can do it through sneaking (preferably at night), or you can do it through brute force. Sometimes, as you will see in the following guide for home robberies, these events are connected to your gang’s members.

Are you ready to rob some homes, Arthur? You can see the most important RDR2 homesteads on our map below, while the accompanying hints and tips will teach you how to rob them efficiently.

1 – Chez Porter Stash Location

The first homestead you can rob in Red Dead Redemption 2 is the one that actually introduces you to the home robberies, as part of a Companion Activity available at Horseshoe Overlook. The character who will give you this activity is Javier and you can access it after you finish The First Shall Be Last.

So, approach Javier at Horseshoe Overlook and choose to rob a homestead with him.

Talk to Javier to learn more about Chez Porter

After the cutscene, mount your horse and travel with Javier to the homestead marked on our map above. It’s Chez Porter.

Continue to follow Javier on foot, then use the binoculars to inspect the house.

Inspect the homestead

When you get closer to the house, get cover behind the rock on the right side of the yard, then wait for Javier to create a distraction.

Eventually, Javier will set a small shed on fire. Wait for the occupants to approach it, then open fire, trying to kill the first 3 in a single Dead Eye, by aiming at their heads.

Since you will alarm the rest of the family members, get ready for another round. In the large, barn there are 2 enemies. One of them is at the upper window and you must deal with him immediately. Two additional enemies are inside the house on the left. Take them out as well, to clear the premise.

Deal with the enemies inside the barn as quickly as possible

From here you are free to loot the Chez Porter homestead. Make sure you help Javier finding the Chez Porter stash, hidden in the barn under a large crate.

While there are many additional items to be found, two of them are very important.

The chest in the upper section of the barn is one of them. You can get it by climbing the ladder in the barn, and inside you will find  2 Money Stacks and a Large Jewelry Bag.

Make sure you loot the chest inside the barn

The second important item you should not miss is the Chez Porter Weapon Case. It’s inside the main house, in the upper area of the bedroom. Climb the ladder and take the Pump Action Shotgun.

Don’t Leave the area without the Pump Action Shotgun in the bedroom

Once you get these items, you are free to leave the premise, because nobody will follow you. However, we recommend you loot everything in your sight if you’re aiming to go for the Breaking and Entering trophy since it can be hard to make it register otherwise.

2 – Aberdeen Pig Farm Stash Location

Quite interesting the two Strangers at Aberdeen Pig Farm. Croock, nevertheless, but at least they are intriguing. Wanna meet them, cowboy?

The Red Dead Redemption 2 Aberdeen Pig Farm is a homestead you should visit if you want to see what the two strangers living inside are planning. And you can also loot another Lock Box, besides those revealed in our RDR2 Hidden Lockboxes and Chests location guide.

When you visit Aberdeen Pig Farm you will be greeted by a lovely couple who will invite you inside. How you play this scenario depends on you, but in our walkthrough below we reveal the choices you have.

Assuming you wish to see what’s up with these strangers, you can accept their invitation and have a drink with the couple. You will eventually end up without money and several steps away from the farm along with a corpse. Yeah, the couple poisoned your drink, cowboy. Luckily you are not dead.

If you decide to refuse the drink and check back later, the woman invites you to taste some stew. The outcome is the same and so is the spot where you end up.

Why don’t you taste some stew, Arthur?

So, the couple took your money and almost killed you. Get back to the farm, and the woman will great you with a knife in hand, surprised that you are still alive.

Kill both of them immediately, or they will kill you.

A deranged woman, indeed…

Now that you dealt with them it’s time to loot the place. First, recover your money behind mama’s painting (pictured below).

Next, loot the woman’s body to find the RDR2 Silver Chain Bracelet, required for the Bear Claw Talisman. Since you already know how to hunt the Legendary Bear and how to find the Quartz Chunk; thanks to the crazy lady you are now able to craft the said talisman.

Finally, start looting everything inside and don’t forget to get the lockbox in the small room that can be accessed from outside.

Obviously, you can loot the lockbox without talking to the Stangers at Aberdeen Pig Farm, but you will miss a very interesting (and funny) encounter. Thus, make sure to loot everything to register for the trophy.

3 – Lonnie’s Shack Stash Location

After you check Aberdeen Pig Farm, you can visit Lonnie’s Shack which is only several steps away from the pig farm. This Red Dead Redemption 2 homestead can also be visited with Sean as a Companion Activity you can trigger in Chapter 3. We suggest you wait for Sean.

If you want though, you can visit it alone just to find 4 strangers sharing some booze. When you approach Lonnie’s Shack in Red Dead Redemption II, you have several options.

You can simply enter and shoot down all strangers (not advisable), or you can wait outside until they pass out.

Next, simply crouch and loot the house where you should be able to find several collectibles and other goodies.

Under a bed (pictured below), it’s a weapon case containing the Double-Action Revolver.

Furthermore, if you decide to take out the strangers at Lonnie’s Shack, you must spare one of them. Once interrogated he will tell you about the stash. Depending on the identity of the final member, the location might be subjected to change.

Its location is random and depends on the stranger you interrogate. For us, it was under the pillow. Without interrogating one of the occupants you won’t be able to find it.

4 – Van Horn Mansion Stash Location

Van Horn Mansion is another Red Dead Redemption 2 homestead you should investigate, and there are two ways to rob it.

You can wait for nightfall and try to sneak inside the basement where the mansion’s occupants should already sleep.

Or you can visit it during the day and kill both occupants, then claim your loot. Once inside, fully explore the house for various items, the most important of them being the cash on the wooden table (pictured below).

You could choose to leave after grabbing the cash, but it’s better to wipe the house clean if you want to register for the trophy.

5 – Catfish Jacksons Stash Location

Catfish Jacksons is another homestead in Red Dead Redemption 2 which must be investigated closely as it has a curious story.

In this house lives a father and his son, Nate. The moment you approach it, loot the chest outside (pictured below).

Loot the chest outside Catfish Jacksons Homestead

Now, if you want you can leave the occupants alone and come back several times to see how their lives unfold. When you visit the house for the first time, you will hear the father and the son arguing.

Later, you will find the father sleeping outside, and the boy reading in his room. On a third visit, the boy is missing and the father is quite angry.  If you wait even more, and visit the house again, the father is missing and the boy took his place.

Assuming you are not interested in their story, and you only want to find the RDR2 stash at Catfish Jacksons, you can enter the house and deal with the father, sparing the boy. Instead of killing him, try to threaten Nate and he will tell you that the stash with money is in the chimney.

Next, feel free to loot the house, retrieving all items inside. The most important; however, remain the chest outside, the money in the chimney and the Double-Barreled Shotgun above the same chimney.

There’s a ‘Premium Cigarette Packs” collectible present in the mission as well. Simply check the chest inside the son’s room in order to acquire it.

6 – Watson’s Cabin Stash Location

Watson’s Cabin is the sixth RDR2 homestead you should investigate in order to find a hidden stash; however, this house has two different sequences.

When you reach the location on our map above, enter the house to meet an old lady. If you greet her, she will be confused and think that you are someone else.

As a result, she will tell you to go to the cellar. Check the backroom and follow the ladder down. Here you will find a weapon case and inside it the Semi-Auto Shotgun.

Make sure you take the weapon, then head outside ignoring everything else inside.

Set your camp and sleep for at least 24 in-game hours, then return to Watson’s Cabin. Stay alert because this time the woman’s sons are inside and they will attack you immediately.

Kill all of four of them the moment they attack, as well as the old lady because she also has a gun.

Now head inside and on the kitchen table, you will find a lockbox. Take the money inside, then clear the house. There is also a chest around the corner you don’t want to miss. In a nightstand, you might also find a Gold Earring, required for the Boar Tusk Talisman.

While the actual Watson’s Cabin Stash is the Weapon Case, if you don’t return to the cabin you will miss the lockbox, and $73.

7 – Willard’s Rest Stash Location

The final homestead you should investigate in Red Dead Redemption 2 is Willard’s Rest, but it becomes available after you complete A Fork in the Road story mission in Chapter 6.

This homestead belongs to a woman named Charlotte and you can visit her several times. The first time you approach Charlotte you will be asked to teach her how to hunt. You can wait for days to pass by in a nearby camp.

Once you visit her again two days later, you will be asked to give her a shooting lesson, and at the end loot a Jewelry Box. Make sure you take it the moment you wake up in Charlotte’s house. You can see the stash’s location in the picture below.

8 – Carmody Dell

You will go to Carmody Dell in the mission called ‘Spines of America’ in Chapter 2. It is the mission in which you need to steal a wagon for your friend Seamus. When you enter the house you can walk over to the chimney and search it. You will find $150 inside.
