Beating a Strider in Horizon Zero Dawn is pretty easy. What you need to do is stick to the tall grass and shoot at the canisters on its back. If you shoot them with fire arrows then it is going to explode. If you shoot them with tear arrows then they will come off and you can pick them up later. In either case, doing so is going to deal plenty of damage.
Once you take out the canister on its back you can shoot at its eye in order to deal the most damage and take out the machine quickly. The strider can charge at you and you will have to dodge in order to avoid getting damage. You can also shoot at its eye in order to interrupt the move. After the charge, the Strider can kick you so be aware of that as well.
The body of the machine is not weak to anything so you can use any arrows that you like. The strider does not have a lot of HP so you can take it down with a couple of arrows in the right place.
