As the name states, the Charger in Horizon Zero Dawn is going to charge at you in order to deal damage. It can also kick you. You can dodge to the side and get out of the way in order to avoid unnecessary damage. There are a couple of weak points that you can use in order to kill one quickly.
How To Kill A Charger In Horizon Zero Dawn
If you stay hidden in the tall grass and are not detected then you can sneak close to the machine, override it and not have to kill it at all but if you want to kill it then you can aim at the canisters at the back of the machine. You can shoot the canisters with tear arrows to break them off. You can use fire arrows and the canisters will explode. In boss cases, you will be able to do significant damage to the machine.
Another weak point is the horns. You can hit them with tear arrows in order to deal damage and remove the horns. This will keep the Charger from charging at you and ramming into you. The body is not weak to any element so you can use pretty much anything that you want on the body of the machine.
Chargers are stronger than striders so if you use the silent strike ability then you might not be able to take one out early on in the game. Upgrade this ability in order to kill the charger with the silent strike ability in one hit.
