Horizon Zero Dawn Thunderjaw Guide: How To Beat

Horizon Zero Dawn Thunderjaw

The Thunderjaw is one of the more challenging machines in the game to beat and kill. You can encounter them in the wild and you will find them in Cauldron ZETA as well. You are also going to encounter them during the campaign. So knowing how to kill a Thunderjaw is going to be very important if you are interested in progressing Horizon Zero Dawn. In this Horizon Zero Dawn guide, we are going to go over how you can kill a Thunderjaw.

How To Kill Thunderjaw In Horizon Zero Dawn

The Thunderjaw is a huge beast and it has plenty of attacks that it can use to take you out so you will need to be on your guard at all times. You should scan the beast first of all in order to find out the weak spots.

Now that you have highlighted the weak spots, you need to shoot off the disk launchers that are installed on the sides of the beast. If you do not do that then the Thunderjaw is going to shoot disks at you that do a massive amount of damage.

Once you have taken off the disk launchers, you can use them to do some serious damage to the Thunderjaw. This is one of the tactics that I personally use but you can stick to bows or other weapons if you like.

You can use the rope caster to hold down the machine in places so that you can land some critical hits and deal damage without having the Thunderjaw moving around constantly. It is a massive machine and can be an easy target but it keeps moving around so hitting shots accurately can be a bit frustrating.

Tear Blast arrows are going to be the most effective against this machine as it is going to help you remove the armor pretty quickly and give you clear shots to the heart, which is located under all that armor. Unlock the skill that allows you to shoot multiple arrows at the same time. Load 3 arrows at a time to deal the most damage to the machine.

The Thunderjaw in Horizon Zero Dawn also has canisters on its back that you can destroy in order to deal a significant amount of damage. This is how you can beat the Thunderjaw in the game.
