Protective Fabric is a Crafting Material featured in Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, the latest video-game developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
The Protective Fabric in Division 2 is used at the Workbench in association with other materials, to craft Gear.
Additionally, this material, along with the Polycarbonates and Receiver Components is required to upgrade the Crafting Station.
Protective Fabric Description
“Crafting material used for crafting the outer and inner gear layers. Can be salvaged through deconstruction.
Equipment needs to withstand extreme conditions and heavy wear and tear.
The fabric used to make gear has to be fire-retardant and durable enough to allow the user to operate in rough terrain.
Urban environments often feature a lot of sharp edges and coarse surfaces, such as of metal, glass, and concrete, which requires tactical gear to be made out of very high-quality materials.“

Unlike the Printer Filaments, for example, the Protective Fabrics in The Division 2 are quite common. Here is how to get them.
Deconstructing Gear
The best method to get this material is to dismantle gear you don’t use.
The Protective Fabric is a guaranteed drop when you use dismantle.
In the following picture, you can see that we received this Crafting Material and some Ceramics after deconstructing a Body Armor.
How to Use Protective Fabric In Division 2
After you get this material you can use it at the Crafting Station. Fast Travel to the White House and look for Inaya al-Khaliq.
Besides the fact that this material is required for Gear, you’ll also need it if you wish to upgrade the Crafting Workbench to a higher rank (purple).
In the following screenshot, you can see that for the Improvised Mask we need 11 Protective Fabrics.
Keep in mind that you can’t carry more than 500 Protective Fabrics at once; a number reached after you purchase the Crafting Material 3 Perk.
