Red Dead Redemption II: Legendary White Bison Hunting Guide

RDR2 Legendary Bison

The Red Dead Redemption 2 Legendary White Bison is one of the largest animals you can hunt in the video game developed by Rockstar Studios, besides the Tatanka Bison.

These two buffalos should not be confused with the common American Bison, nor the items you can craft from their parts. The White Bison in Red Dead Redemption II is the first you should attempt since the area where it lives can be accessed starting Chapter 2.

On the other hand, the Tatanka Bison becomes available later and it’s a bit more challenging. For now, we will deal with the White Legendary Bison. Its location is marked on our map below.

Description:

“The Legendary White Bison is endemic to the northern mountains of Ambarino. This albino bison can be easily distinguished by the color of its hair. As a herbivore, it grazes on grains, hay, and corn. Due to the large size of the bison, high impact weapons are considered to be the best for hunting this animal. The ideal weapon is either a Bow with Improved Arrows or a long scope rifle. Killing this animal will give you the opportunity to craft a rare talisman.”

Legendary White Bison Location:

  • Ambarino (North of Lake Isabella)

Recommended Weapon & Ammo:

  • Springfield Rifle
  • Express Ammo

Hunting & Tracking Guide:

Start tracking the animal by looking for two clues (pictured below) on the northern shore of Lake Isabella. Close to the water, you will find some bison fur.

The Legendary White Bison in Red Dead Redemption 2

As with all large animals you have encountered so far (Legendary Elk, Legendary Moose), the Legendary White Bison requires more than one headshot.

Using our recommended weapon along with Express Ammo should give you an advantage; however, consider using the Dead Eye skill and aim for the head. If needed, you should also consume some tonics.

Craftable Items:

Once you manage to kill the White Bison, skin it and head to a trapper first. Assuming you have all the required materials, using the Legendary White Bison Pelt, you can craft the following garments.

The Legendary White Bison Hat

  • Legendary White Bison Pelt x1
  • $45

The Legendary White Bison Coat

  • Legendary White Bison Pelt x1
  • $29

Furthermore, by visiting the Fence after you collect the Legendary Bison Horn, you can craft the Bison Horn Talisman. For this talisman, you need an Abalone Shell Fragment and a Silver Earring. Finally, you need to pay $38.5 at the Fence for this talisman.

Once purchased the Bison Horn Talisman permanently decreases the speed that the stamina core drains by 10%.
