Red Dead Redemption II: Legendary Moose Hunting Guide

RDR2 Legendary Moose

The Red Dead Redemption 2 Legendary Moose is one of the largest Legendary Animal you can hunt while exploring the wild west in the video game developed by Rockstar Studios.

Although it is quite massive, the RDR2 Legendary Moose is an accessible animal you should be able to take down once you reach Chapter 2.

Hunting it using our recommended weapon and ammo will make the whole experience easier. After you manage to kill this white moose, you will be able to craft a series of unique items, as you can see listed below.

Its location is marked on the following map, along with all Legendary Animals in Red Dead Redemption II.

” The Legendary Moose is endemic to Roanoke Ridge, New Hanover. This moose can be recognized by its larger size and short light gray hair. Its omnivore diet includes shoots from willow and birch trees, aquatic plants and forbs. The best weapon to hunt this animal is considered to be either a Bow with Improved Arrows or a long scope rifle. Killing this animal will give you the opportunity to craft a rare trinket.”

Legendary Moose Location:

  • Roanoke Ridge (West of Willard’s Rest)

Recommended Weapon & Ammo:

  • Springfield Rifle
  • Express Ammo

Hunting & Tracking Guide:

Once you arrive at the location marked on our map above, check for the first track on the small island near the railroad. You should see some tree rub (pictured below).

From there move west across the river, and in the nearby forest, you should see another track. It’s some moose dung, between two trees.

Now move south and cross the train tracks. The next clue is close to a small hill, and it’s some fur. Once you inspect it, you should be able to spot the white Legendary Moose several steps away.

Since this is a large animal, several headshots are required even if you use a Springfield Rifle. Use the Dead Eye and aim for the animal’s head to take it down faster.

Should you spook the moose, don’t leave the hunting area. Instead, start tracking the animal again until you see it. The animal will not leave the premise.

Craftable Items:

From the Legendary Moose Pelt you can craft the following garments at the Trapper:

The Legendary Moose Hunting Jacket

  • Legendary Moose Pelt x1
  • Perfect Wolf Pelt x1
  • $24

The Legendary Moose Moccasins

  • Legendary Moose Pelt x1
  • Perfect Cow Hide x1
  • $22

Additionally, after you loot the Legendary Moose Antler, if you visit the Fence you can craft the Moose Antler Trinket for which you need to pay $19.

The trinket will increase your health experience bonus by 10%.
