The RDR2 Largemouth Bass is a medium-sized fish you can catch if you wish to get Total Completion in the video game developed by Rockstar Studios for PS4 and Xbox One.
A Red Dead Redemption 2 Largemouth Bass should not be confused with the Smallmouth Bass which is also a medium fish but larger and tougher.
Endemic to lakes, rivers, and swamps, the Largemouth Bass can be found exclusively in the southern region; as can be observed on our map below.
Description:
“Largemouth Bass inhabit open and flowing water all around the Southern States. They can be easy to spot, due to swimming energetically near the surface, but less easy to catch. Anglers report that Largemouth Bass don’t seem to care for most lures, but respond well to fresh crayfish. Rainy weather is linked to increased activity. Some say that the San Luis River is home to a Legendary Largemouth Bass.”
Recommended Fishing Spot and Bait:
You can attempt to catch a Largemouth Bass the moment you complete A Fisher of Men mission in Chapter 2; and although it inhabits most water sources in the southern regions, for better results make sure you visit the locations on our map below.
A favorite Largemouth Bass fishing spot is the area north of Clemens Point on the eastern coast of Flat Iron Lake. Besides the fact that it’s very close to your camp starting Chapter 3; you can also use this fishing spot to catch Steelhead Trout and Smallmouth Bass.
Before heading to any of these locations, make sure you buy Crayfish, which is the recommended bait. This bait can be purchased from the Tackle and Bait Shop in Lagras.
Largemouth Bass Variation and Weight:
In Red Dead Redemption II there are two variations for the Largemouth Bass. The common bass is smaller and has a weight between 4 and 6 lbs.
The Legendary Largemouth Bass is significantly larger and weighs 25lbs and 1oz. Its location is also marked on our map above and you have to catch it in order to complete A Fisher of Fish mission.
Cooking Recipes:
Since it is a Flaky Fish, the Largemouth Bass can be cooked in various ways. Without aromatic herbs, you can prepare Plain Flaky Fish; a recipe that requires only cooking fire.
By adding aromatic herbs, you can also cook Thyme Flaky Fish, Oregano Flaky Fish, and Minty Flaky Fish.
How to Catch:
As a medium-sized fish, the bass won’t put too much of a fight. After you cast your line, press R2/RT in order to attract the fish, then slowly reel in until you hook it.
Next, keep your rod up by pushing down the left thumbstick and keep reeling when the fish is not fighting; tilting the thumbstick when the rod is moving down.
During the fighting sequence, stop reeling, then repeat the previous step until the fish is close enough so Arthur can pick it up.
