If you want to rob stagecoaches in Red Dead Redemption 2 more productively and unlock the Emerald Ranch Wagon Fence, then you need to complete The Spines of America story mission.
RDR2 Spines of America allows you to get more money while robbing stagecoaches, and it’s a short mission; however getting the Gold Medal might be tricky if you don’t know how to find all items at Carmody Dell.
Assuming you reached this mission in Chapter 2 of the video game, and don’t know what to do; our Red Dead Redemption II Spines of America walkthrough will guide you from beginning to end.
Ready to rob your first stagecoach in Red Dead Redemption 2? Let’s go then!
Description:

Mission Requirements:
- Complete Exit Pursued by a Bruised Ego
- Move at least 350 meters away from the camp, then return to start a conversation with Ms. Grimshaw
Gold Medal Goals:
- Loot all items from the Carmody Dell house
- Don’t get spotted
- Deliver the wagon to Emerald Ranch within one minute and 10 seconds
Walkthrough:
Find Hosea Matthews south of Emerald Ranch. You can easily see his location on your map since it is marked with H.
As you’ll soon find out, Hosea intends to start a new sideline business with a stranger named Seamus. This new business of him is obviously against the law, but there are money involved and that’s all that matters. To Hosea and to you too.
So, the new business…well…it revolves around stagecoaches and stealing them. Sounds good? Great, but unfortunately, before you can become Hosea’s and Seamus’ associate you need to prove yourself.
What’s the best way to prove you’re a good thief? Stealing, of course!
And that’s what you are going to do in The Spines of America. Steal! No worries cowboy, in this mission you’ll steal from Seamus’ cousin at Carmody Dell. Luckily for you, it’s his cousin by marriage.
Now that you know what you have to do, hop on your horse and ride to the location marked on your map. It’s just north of Heartland Oil Fields.
Once you arrive at Carmody Dell, hitch your horse close to Hosea and follow him, behind the large rock.
Use your binoculars to scout the farm, then you’ll have to make a choice. Should you rob Carmody Dell during the day, or should you wait for nightfall?
We suggest you pick the latter because it is by far easiest if you want to get the Gold Medal.
Gold Medal Goal Tip: Choose to rob Carmody Dell at night.
When the night arrives, Hosea will ask you to check the house while he will investigate the barn. Head to the large house and look through the windows first, to make sure everyone is asleep.
Gold Medal Goal Tip: To get the first two Gold Medal requirements you need to stay crouched all the time, from the moment you enter the house. Walk slowly and strategically investigate all rooms, looting everything. Don’t let a single highlighted item in the house. If your inventory is full when you try to steal one of the items, consume what’s in your inventory.
You have to remember that stealing also means that nobody sees what’s missing. This means that if you open a drawer for example, once you get the goodies inside, you also need to close it. Walk slowly and don’t run through the doors.
Make sure you keep the Eagle Eye activated all the time!
Gold Medal Goal Tip: While looting Carmody Dell, don’t forget to check the chimney downstairs because there is a hidden stash containing $150. Most players might miss this important item.
After you loot everything downstairs, head to the first floor and take everything you find in the chest and the wardrobe.
Now, exit the house and get inside the stagecoach with Hosea.
Gold Medal Goal Tip: To get to Seamus within the time limit try to cut curves as much as possible. The road to the barn should not be a problem as long as you avoid all possible obstacles. As you arrive, immediately take the stagecoach inside the barn. Assuming you fail to complete this requirement, you can also opt for a more direct approach, across the hills.
While this strategy will surely take you to Seamus within one minute and 10 seconds, it’s a little bit more dangerous because you might damage the stagecoach.
While The Spines of America serves as an introductory mission for the Red Dead Redemption 2 Stagecoach Robberies, it is also a requirement for unlocking The Sheep and the Goats story mission.
