Kabal Joins the Growing List of Mortal Kombat 11 Playable Characters

Don't let the mask fool ya!

MK11 Kabal

Six days after the official announcement that Kano is an MK XI playable character, NetherRealm Studios confirmed that two additional fighters will join the Mortal Kombat 11 roster: Kabal and D’Vorah.

Even though we were expecting to see Kano’s nemesis Jax Briggs announced next; Kabal’s presence in Mortal Kombat XI is justified, since he is a former member of Kano’s criminal organization, Black Dragon.

Kabal debuted in 1995 in Mortal Kombat 3; being created by Ed Boon and John Tobias.

Back then, he was fighting for Kano’s syndicate; however, when Shao Kahn attacked the Earthrealm, Kabal’s soul was saved, making him one of Raiden’s Earth defenders.

Obviously, Kabal suddenly became a target for Kahn’s extermination troops, who managed to seriously injure him, during another attack.

Badly wounded and mutilated Kabal had to wear artificial respirators in order to survive.

As a playable character in Mortal Kombat XI, Kabal was announced alongside D’Vorah during the first MK 11 Kombat Kast.

The event, which was a live stream hosted on February 6, 2019, gave us the chance to see how Kabal looks like in Mortal Kombat 11.

Furthermore, some of his signature moves and even one of his fatalities can be seen in the reveal trailer below.

While playing as Kabal, we’ll be able to use his buzz saw blades, meat hooks (hookswords), and his well-known Nomad Dash move.

The Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Kast also gave Ed Boon the chance to tease a guest character that will make people “freak out”.

While we doubt this will be Shaggy, it remains to be seen what developers have in store for us.

Mortal Kombat 11 releases April 23, 2019, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.

The video game can be pre-ordered from Gamestop (US) or Game (UK). If you want to learn more about all Mortal Kombat 11 editions available, make sure you check our buying guide here.
