Death Stranding is around the corner and Hideo Kojima has revealed some new details regarding the game in these past couple of days. He has opened up about the game a lot and he has even mentioned that he does not fully understand the game, which is very interesting indeed.
Death Stranding is wrapped in mystery and even though we have got plenty of details, we are still not sure what the game is about and what it is going to be like. Here is what Hideo Kojima had to say about Death Stranding:
Death Stranding… even now, I don’t understand the game,” Kojima said. “Its world view, gameplay, they are all new. My mission is to create a genre that does not currently exist, and which takes everyone by surprise. There is, naturally, a risk in that.
When the director of a game does not know what the game is about then that is a major Red flag but Hideo Kojima being Hideo Kojima, I am sure that the fans are going to understand. He went on to talk about the generation gap and that there are some things that the older generations find weird but the new generation does not.
Hideo Kojima went on to talk about the difference between art and games. Here is what he had to say regarding the matter:
If you take something that looks like a banana and give it the title ‘apple’, that works as art. But it doesn’t apply to games. We are making things that are interactive. A banana has to be edible after you peel the skin. Cars have to be drivable. For games to be interactive and to deliver the enjoyment, there has to be a reality where there are lots of people backstage making it all happen. That is us – a kind of art-driven service industry.
There is a lot of anticipation around the game and I am sure that plenty of people are going to be interested in playing the game when it comes out on November 8th, 2019. While there have been rumors that the game will release on PC, it is exclusive to PS4 at launch and you will need a PS4 if you are interested in playing the game. In other news, Troy Baker has mentioned that the game is going to be a statement.
