Cyberpunk Movie Likely Now That Keanu Reeves is On Board

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is one the most anticipated games right now and seeing Keanu Reeves in the game was a major highlight of E3 2019. In a recent interview Cyberpunk 2020 creator, Mike Pondsmith mentioned that a Cyberpunk movie is could be made, now that Keany Reeves is part of the project.

Pondsmith is actively taking part in the development of Cyberpunk 2077 and while he did not confirm that a movie is planned he did mention that is is more likely with Reeves on board. Here is what he had to say regarding the matter:

I can’t really say anything on [movie rights]. But with Keanu Reeves being tied up in things, it’s become much more of a possibility.

The team is obviously working on finishing Cyberpunk 2077 so it does not have the time to think about the movie for now. CDPR has also confirmed that it is working on a mobile game that has not been announced yet. These two projects are keeping CDPR busy right now. The game is going to release on April 16, 2020. So, you should not expect to hear anything about a movie until then.

The team has also talked about other features that it is planning on implementing. PC mods are one of the things that the team has not confirmed but is considering. I think that modding would be great in Cyberpunk 2077 and that would lead a lot of possibilities. I am sure that CDPR has plans for the game that we do not know about as of right now.

CDPR also talked about expansions for Cyberpunk 2077 and how it has learned from the expansions of The Witcher 3. While the devs have not confirmed that CB 2077 will get similar expansions but it is something that the team is considering.

Pondsmith mentioned that the Cyberpunk franchise has been built over a couple of years and has a great blend of action and plot. These are two very important things when it comes to a great movie or storytelling in general.

He also talked teased Cyberpunk 2077 and mentioned that there will be a time when the player is forced to think about cyberwear in the game and what that might be like. Here is what he had to say regarding the matter:

At the end of the day, there will be a moment in 2077 when you’re sitting there as V and you’ll look down and realise that both of your hands are essentially cybernetic tool factories. As a player, you should at some point think, what is that like? There should be that moment of discomfort.

In other news regarding the game, the devs have confirmed that the ending of Cyberpunk 2077 will be very rewarding. The team has also released some new artwork that you can check out.

Let us know what you think about Cyberpunk 2077 and whether or not you would be interested in watching a Cyberpunk movie that features Keanu Reeves.
