Mass Effect 2 Platinum Guide: How To Get And Use

Mass Effect 2 Platinum

In order to get all the improvements in the game, you need to have an abundance of the resources that you will track down in the second entry of the Mass Effect trilogy. In this guide, we will detail how to find Platinum, where to get it from, and how to use it in Mass Effect 2.

How to Get Platinum in Mass Effect 2

You can get Platinum just like you get other resources in Mass Effect 2 which means you will have to first scan the planets for the resources and after that extract those resources using the probe.

Interact with any planet which does not have a mission by flying towards it. You can then study the planet using the L2 key on PlayStation and LT key on Xbox. While doing so, move the cursor with the left analog stick.

Your controller will start vibrating and an indicator will start appearing on the screen as you move closer to any material’s deposit. The larger the spike, the bigger the deposit will be, and the vibrations on the controller will start getting more intense.

Once you have found a deposit worth harvesting, collect it using a probe by pressing RT or R2 on Xbox and PlayStation, respectively. Be cautious though, as the number of probes is very limited. Once you have used all of them, you will have to spend 500 credits per piece in order to buy more.

What Platinum Is Used for

You can use the gathered Platinum for multiple research projects. Primarily, you can use it to make sniper rifles, shotguns, and other medical equipment more effective. However, you can also use it for creating multiple variants of different armor and weapons. So, if you are interested in using Platinum, it is wise to put it to use like this.
