The Lancehorn in Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the easier machines to kill. It resembles a gazelle and you will often find it running around in the wild. This is also one of the first machines that you are going to come across in the game. In this Horizon Zero Dawn guide, we are going to walk you through how you can kill a Lancehorn.
How To Kill A Lancehorn In Horizon Zero Dawn
The Lancehorn is not a complex machine, relatively speaking, and does not have a lot of weak points like other machines that we have gone over. We recommend using a stealth approach in order to take it out quickly.
Stick to the tall grass and sneak up to the machine in order to land a critical strike. If you have upgraded the skill then you will be able to take it out in a single strike. If not then you will still do significant damage and you will be able to take it out in a few additional hits.
Scan the machine while you are in the tall grass with your focus in order to reveal the weak spots that it has. You will notice that the body of the machine is neither weak not strong against anything. So shooting at the body is not the most effective way of killing it.
The Lancehorn has drill horns on its head. Shoot these with Tear arrows in order to destroy them. This will disable the horn attacks of the machine. Next, the machine has freeze canisters on its back. You can shoot them with Freeze or Tear arrows. Freeze arrows are going to trigger an explosion that will do high damage and will also freeze the machine in place for a while allowing you do land a couple of good hits. The Tear arrows will remove the component so that you can pick it up later.
