Shell Walkers are machines in Horizon Zero Dawn that resemble turtles. They can guard themselves with shields and that is why they can be tough to deal with. How To Kill A Shell Walker In Horizon Zero Dawn
The major challenge here is that the machine can bring up a shield to protect itself. Scan the machine with your focus to find the weak points. Now you need to shoot the Shield Claw with tear arrows in order to destroy the component. This will disable the shield and make the encounter much easier.
The body of the machine is not weak against anything but it is strong against Shock so you do not want to use Shock Ammo or Shock weapons on the body of the Shell Walker.
Another part that is unique to the Shell Walker is the Crate Holder. Destroy this to detach the cargo container. The machine also has a lightning gun. You can shoot at it with Tear arrows in order to destroy it and keep the machine from firing Shock attacks at you.
Lastly, the machine has a Power Generator. Destroy this component to disable the shock attacks of the machine. Doing all this will make the machine pretty helpless as you have crippled it from attacking and have also removed its shield. So once you have done all this the encounter is going to be very easy.
