A Fireclaw is a massive bear-like machine in Horizon Zero Dawn. This is a deadly machine and it can easily kill you if you do not know how to defend yourself and where to attack it. In this Horizon Zero Dawn guide, we are going to go over how you can kill a Fireclaw in the game.
Note that this machine is exclusive to The Frozen Wilds, so you will need to own the DLC in order to go up against it. The machine is similar tot he Frostclaw but uses fire rather than ice.
How To Kill A Fireclaw In Horizon Zero Dawn
This machine is similar to a fire bear so the body is weak against Freeze. You can use Freeze arrows on its body in order to deal high damage. Scan the machine in order to reveal its weak spots. The Fire Sac is weak towards all the elements. Shoot it to trigger an explosion that is going to deal damage and is going to burn the machine over time. It is also going to disable the fire augment attacks that the Fireclaw has.
The machine also has a Fire Unit. This is another weak spot that you can shoot at with all types of ammo. Shooting at it will also trigger an explosion. It will deal fire damage over time and will disable the fire-based attacks and the claw attacks, making the encounter with the machine much easier.
With two explosions and almost all of the attacks of the machine disabled, you can move on to the power cells. These are weak against Shock and Tear ammo. You can shoot at them with Shock arrows in order to trigger an explosion and deal high damage. They will also deal Shock damage to nearby machines. You can use Tear arrows to remove the components and then pick them up later.
