God Of War Ancient Guide: How To Beat

God Of War Ancient

The Ancient is one of the mini-bosses in the God of War that you will encounter as part of the main storyline and side missions. In this God of War guide, we are going to go over how you can beat the ancient.

There are different types of ancients in the game. While some are made of rock, others are infused with elements such as ice or fire. You cannot attack the ancient on its body. There is a very specific way in which you must deal damage and eventually kill it.

How To Beat The Ancient In God Of War

The weak point of the ancient is its heart which is locked inside its chest. What you need to do is wait for it to attack you with the beam that shoots out of its chest. When it does that, its chest is going to open up and the heart will be exposed. Use your axe and throw it at its exposed chest in order to deal damage.

If you hit the right spots, chunks of the ancient are going to fall off and you can pick them up and throw them at the enemy. These will explode on impact and deal a lot of damage. You can either throw the chunks back or keep dealing damage by throwing your axe at its exposed chest. This is how you can deal damage to the ancient.

Once you have depleted enough health or have filled the stagger bar, the enemy will be staggered. You can get close and press on the right joystick to execute the ancient. Do note that while the chest of the ancient is exposed, it is going to fire a beam of energy. You can avoid this by staying behind a pillar or other objects. You can safely stay behind a pillar and throw your axe at the enemy.

The ancient also has a ground slam area of effect attack. You will see this coming as the ancient will stand on all four limbs when pulling this off. When this happens you need to step back in order to avoid taking damage.

This is how you can beat the ancient in God of War. If you are interested in learning more about the game then you can check out our guide on how you can max level the Leviathan Axe and Blades of Chaos.
