Red Dead Redemption II Gold Medal Walkthrough: Polite Society, Valentine Style Story Mission

Good day, Arthur! How do you like Horseshoe Overlook so far? Yeah, it’s small, but we’ll make it bigger in no time. To do so; however, we need money! A lot of them! Dutch expects them too. Noticed that box where you can donate for the camp?

Making money in Red Dead Redemption 2 is not an easy task, but now we know how to hunt and we’ll also learn how to rob soon. Until then, let’s focus on the first mission in Chapter 2, shall we?

First up? Polite Society, Valentine Style mission. A short and quite accessible quest you can complete in no time. You can trigger it by talking to Uncle in Horseshoe Overlook. Head there now cowboy and look for the U (Uncle) icon.

Description:

In search of new leads for the gang, Karen, Tilly, and Mary Beth convince Arthur and Uncle to ride out to Valentine with them.”

Mission Requirements:

Gold Medal Goals:

  • Return the lost wagon horse to its owner
  • Find Karen in under 45 seconds

Walkthrough:

Looks like you’re up for a trip to Valentine! And you’re not going alone. Several beautiful ladies also want to see the town.

Ride the wagon following the path marked on your minimap. When you get close to the train tracks you should see a stagecoach; which seems to be in trouble.

Gold Medal Goal Tip: Pay attention to the gray horse that runs away across the train track. The said horse must be recovered for the first Gold Medal objective.

Return the Shire to its owner

Stop your wagon next to the stagecoach and talk to the driver. Press L2/LT and agree to help him, then cross the train track.

Now, it’s time to calm the Shire. While focusing on the Shire (keep L2/LT pulled), press the Calm button and move closer to the horse.

Do this several times, until you are next to the Shire. You can Pet the animal now, or Lead the horse by pressing L2/LT and △/Y. That’s it, Arthur! Now return the horse to its owner and get back on your wagon.

Continue to follow the road until you reach Valentine; then head to the Blacksmith. Now take a walk with Uncle who will visit the General Store. Buy some coffee from the shelf, then head outside.

After Mary-Beth wakes you up (too much whiskey right?), cross the street and check on Tilly who was attacked by a stranger. Intervene and the stranger will walk away.

Gold Medal Goal Tip: The moment you save Tilly, you will get a new objective. You need to check the hotel and find Karen within 45 seconds.

Enter, the building, head to the first floor and check the second door (2B) on the right as you see in the image.

Check room 2B for Karen

That’s it, cowboy! Kick the door and beat the man inside by mashing O/B.

Now, follow Karen outside to trigger a cutscene. You were recognized Arthur! Catch that man!

To successfully complete this sequence, keep an eye on the red marker on your minimap. Mash X/A and don’t fall behind.

As you will find out soon enough, you don’t actually have to catch that man while riding; because he will fall and end up hanging from a cliff.

Save Jimmy Brooks to earn honor points

Talk to Jimmy Brooks, then decide his fate; but be advised that if you save him you will earn some honor. Killing Jimmy Brooks will lower your honor, obviously.

Furthermore, if you return the horse you took, back to his owner in front of the hotel, you will earn even more honor points.

Well, that’s it, cowboy! You have completed the Red Dead Redemption 2 Polite Society, Valentine Style story mission. Don’t know what to do next? Check our RDR2 wiki guide table here, and if you have questions, use the comments section below or find us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
