Going Medieval Colony Guide: How To Start A Colony

Going Medieval Colony

Going Medieval is out now and has quickly gained popularity since its recent release. The main objective in Going Medieval is to create your own colony. You will have to keep the settlers in your colony fed, and you must have houses for them to live in. This guide will include all the details on how you can start a colony in Going Medieval.

How to Start a Colony in Going Medieval

You will start by choosing the optimal location for you to set your colony. You will have a meager amount of resources at the start of the game. Look for a particular area where you will set up your basic structures and remember this area.

Settlers

The people that will settle in your colony have to do proper work to make sure that the colony thrives. You will have to make adjustments in everyone’s schedule, making sure they get proper sleep and time for leisure activities. Select the schedule option, and you can see all of your villagers and their schedules. Every villager must get five to eight hours of sleep so that they can work properly. They will also require one to three hours for leisure activity. They can spend this time praying or having fun if they want. The rest of the day will be entirely focused on doing work for the colony.

Job Management

The next thing you have to focus on is appointing appropriate jobs to the settlers. This depends on the skills that your villagers possess. Each villager will have their skill displayed in numbers depending on the job. For example, one might have more construction skills while others might be more skillful in other tasks. You might notice stars next to a number. These indicate how fast one can learn that skill. There can be jobs available that do not require any skill while having a particular skill can help multiple jobs.

You will appoint a villager to that job which he/she has skills of. This will make room for improvement and get your tasks done relatively quickly. Having skills in jobs like smithing or treating wounds can be useful later in the game when you have a bigger colony filled with villagers. Jobs like construction, research, and more are important from the beginning of the game. These are your main priority earlier in the game.

Maintenance

Researching is an important task that will help you out in the early game and late in the game. As it is important, you will have to add a research table. You need to lay out a wooden floor underneath this. You will also need a stockpile where you will store all of your resources and such. Clear all animal remains, graves, or decomposition of anything. Place the stockpile and research table near each other. As this will become the main area for your colony, you can set up a campfire here as well.

The weather in the game can change from normal to harsh on random notice. To avoid your table and resources getting ruined, you will have to make a roof over these. To build a roof, you will need structures to support it. The early structures like Wooden Beams can be useful here as they will support the roof. They also do not take much wood to build.

Food

After a few days, your packaged food will finish off, and you will have to cook your own food. To cook the food you will have to make a campfire. Go to the Production Build menu and create a campfire using fifteen pieces of wood. Once this is done, you can select a meal that you want to make in the Products menu. You will have to use the raw ingredients you have on you, like berries and mushrooms. Whosoever you have put in charge of cooking will cook the food until you limit how many ingredients must be used. Building and Furniture

The most important thing to do in Going Medieval is to build things. These can range from making beds to entire houses. Your first build will be to build wooden beams and a roof above them. After a day of sleep, your villagers will have received some negative modifiers. This will be because of them sleeping inside the structures without walls. So your next goal will be to make walls and a door to create a house for people to stay and sleep in. You can also add chairs and tables inside of the house to increase the mood of your villagers.

You can also make two-story buildings as a means of a storage house. These will safeguard your resources and cooking ingredients. For a two-story building, you will need walls and beams for support for the second-story floor as well. You can also add a Backgammon table to change later to make a shrine for people to use during their leisure time.

Of course, you will have to make sources of entertainment for your villages so that they stay happy. Early on, you will have only wood and stone to create these structures. Later on, you can make walls and other structures with better resources. Smithing armor and weapons will also be useful to fight against bandits.

Raids

Soon you can see an enemy raid counter on your top right screen. First, you will have to change the schedule of your villagers so that they are awake before the battle. Then, you will assign swords and spears to villagers who have high skills in using melee weapons. During the raid, you will make sure the people with bows are not in the front line. After the raid is over, you need to clear the dead bodies so that the villagers do not have a negative modifier. Then, you will need to make graves for those dead bodies.

When summer starts, you will need to prepare the fields to grow your own food. You will need to create basements for the storage of the food. Make sure someone is also responsible for creating winter clothing for when Winter arrives.

I love supporting my team in the workspace and in Summoner's Rift. Unleashing Haymaker Grit as Sett, jumping from wall to wall as Lucio or giving shot calls as a tank in Ahn'Qiraj, supporting is what I do. I love the Soulsborne series and enjoy a good multiplayer.
