Going Medieval Tipsa

Creating and organizing a colony can be very challenging in Going Medieval. You will have to deal with all the problems your villagers face. In this Going Medieval guide, we are going to go over some useful tips and tricks that are going to help you win.

All Tips and Tricks in Going Medieval

As summertime hits your colony, you will see a lot of changes. The following are some tips and tricks that you need to keep in mind when playing Going Medieval:

Fields and Wood

You need to start planting fields as soon as you can. Wood is one of the most important resources in the game. You have to research agriculture in the research table to plant anything. A tree nursery is going to be your first main focus. Wood is necessary as you can harvest it and use it for the construction of houses and defenses.

One might think to harvest the already grown scattered trees the colony has. This is not the correct method as this can cause Deforestation to occur. The process of growing trees takes a good amount of time. You will also need several villagers who have high skills in botany. Once the tree starts growing, you need to make sure that you do not harvest them too early as you will not get the true value for them this way.

Basement

In other seasons you can store food on the ground level without a worry. However, in the summertime, you will have to store food below ground level. The reason behind this is that the temperature is high during summertime. This causes food to decompose faster on ground level. If you store food in a basement area, then your food will remain fresh for a long time. Start by using your mining equipment and digging the ground. Make a proper area to store the food and make a staircase so your villagers can go down.

Hunting

For hunting, you will have to research Food preservation and clay smokehouse. You also need to have a butchering table to prepare the meat. Hunting requires you to have villagers with high marksman skills. You need to equip them with bows so they can hunt from afar. Select a particular animal you want to hunt and use the option to Hunt. After hunting and collecting the meat, you need to dispose of the carcass by moving the dead body to the waste stockpile.

Raids

After some time, you will also start to hear raid warnings that bandits will assault your colony. For this, you need to be prepared beforehand. You need to set up traps and defenses to protect your villagers. Villagers with high melee skills can also take up arms and frontline any incoming bandits. Villagers with high marksman skills can attack from afar. After most of the bandits die, they will retreat from your colony. Many of your villagers will be wounded in this fight.

Tending to Wounds and Deceased

You will have to deal with the dead bodies of the bandits after the raid ends. If you do not do this then the mood of your villagers will not be good. Make graves for the dead bandits to dispose of them. Villagers who got wounded in the fight also need to be tended to. Look for villagers with high medical skills so that they tend to the wounded. Make sure that the wounded person is sleeping during the tending as the task is tricky.

Winter

Winters can be a harsh environment to live in. Staying outside can cause freezing to your villagers. To avoid this you will have to make sure that every one of your villagers is wearing winter clothes. Your villagers must always stay near a heat source all the time. You need to construct braziers in every room where your villagers might go to do work. These braziers require wood and clay to make. You need to close the rooms with walls so that cold air does not go inside the rooms.
