Elden Ring is known for its challenging bosses and Margit is the first one that you need to beat in order to progress the game. In this Elden Ring guide, we are going to walk you through how you can beat Margit.
Beating Margit In Elden Ring
The recommended level for this boss fight is 25, but the higher your level the better. Before heading into the fight we do recommend upgrading the weapon that you are interested in using in order to deal damage.
As this is the first boss of the game, its moves are simple and all you really need to do is note them and once you have the attack pattern down, you can easily dodge them. Without going into the attacks of the boss you can easily beat it by using the Rotten Stray Ashes or Margit’s Shackle.
Rotten Stray Ashes
The Rotten Stray Ashes summon a dog that applies a damage over time effect on the boss. Once the spirit has landed enough attacks the status effect is going to be applied. You will see a red aura around the boss when that happens.
Once it is applied, all you have to do is stay at a safe distance and stay alive. Margit’s HP bar is going to drain on its own. Allowing you to proceed further.
In order for this to work the spirit needs to stay alive so you do need to hit the boss a couple of times so that it does not attack and kill the spirit. We can also recommend upgrading your spirit at the Roundtable Hold in order to increase its survivability.
Getting this spirit summon is pretty easy as you do not need to fight any enemy. You can find it north of Sellia Under-Stair Site of Grace inside a building with a corpse and a rotten dog nearby.
You can use the same summon to help you with the second main boss as well. The strategy is going to be the same.
Margit’s Shackle
Margit’s Shackle is an item that you can use to make the boss encounter a bit easier for you. Using the item pins down the boss for a couple of seconds allowing you to deal damage.
You can use it twice in the encounter and only in the first phase of the fight. When the boss pulls out its hammer, you will no longer be able to use it. So use Margit’s Shackle to get through the first phase of the fight and then use your spirit summon in the second phase.
You can buy the item from Patches, an NPC found in Murkwater Cave. This is going to cost you 5,000 Runes but it can be worth it as you can use it against Morgott, the Omen King, a boss that you will encounter later on in the game.
