You can find Thermal Sludge on Orb Vallis in Venus. These resources are in white containers, which you can find throughout the area. They look like snowy ground, so they can be hard to notice. However, once you get close enough it has other features like the blue part in the middle that lets it stand out. You can buy boosters to increase the number of Thermal Sludge you pick up every time from the canisters. You definitely need these boosters if you want to farm out Thermal Sludge a lot. They are available in the market in exchange for Platinum.
The area with the most reported Thermal Sludge is The Pearl on the west side of Orb Vallis. This is the main area followed by Temple of Profit, the Grow Site, Temple Fabrication, Enrichment Labs, Spaceport, and Central Maintenance. You can also complete bounties on Orb Vallis to earn Thermal Sludge as a reward. However, this requires more grind is not worth it, in my opinion.
