Returnal Hyperion Boss Guide: How To Beat

Returnal Hyperion

After facing the mighty foe known as Nemesis, Hyperion will look pale in comparison. However, this boss can still cause you trouble if you go to fight it unprepared. You can find Hyperion in the fourth biome, Echoing Ruins. The boss fight can be long, but you can defeat it easy if you follow some things. This guide will include all tips on how to beat the Hyperion boss in Returnal.

How To beat Hyperion Boss In Returnal

In this boss fight, you can go close to the boss and use a Spitmaw Blaster shotgun. However, being close to the boss reduces room to dodge and strafe the attacks, so we recommend a ranged approach. Weapons such as Hollowseeker and Tachyomatic Carbine can be instrumental. Use Serrated Projectiles and Waves traits for Hollowseeker and Leech Rounds and Hardened traits for Tachyomatic Carbine.

The First Phase

In the first phase of the fight, Hyperion will attack you from a distance while staying in one stationary position. It has multiple attacks such as slow orange and green orbs that that rain down on you. You can dodge these sideways easily. Another attack is where it covers the ground with rings of energy that need to be jumped over. It will direct blue homing pellets in your direction.

These need to dodge at the last second, so they hit the ground. However, even after the ground, they might do splash damage, so keep moving and not stop during the fight. Near the end of this phase, it will shoot a purple laser that sweeps the entire arena. You can avoid it by jumping over it.

The Second Phase

In this phase, Hyperion gets up and starts to shoot more projectiles your way. Hyperion will shower you with constants orbs and waves of energy. You need to jump, dodge and dash through everything while shooting the boss to carve out its health. A new attack that Hyperion does is making tendril spawns in the ground wherever you are standing. It would be best if you sprinted out of the area whenever you see it glowing red.

The Third Phase

In the last phase, Hyperion uses all the attacks from before but in quick succession. It also traps you in walls of thorns and throws everything at you. Do keep in mind that the thorns can hurt you, so do not dodge aimlessly at them. Once you come this far into the fight, you will have memorized the colour patterns the boss throws at you. This will help you react whenever you see a colour, making the fight easier. After some endurance, you will best the creature and come out victorious.

I love supporting my team in the workspace and in Summoner's Rift. Unleashing Haymaker Grit as Sett, jumping from wall to wall as Lucio or giving shot calls as a tank in Ahn'Qiraj, supporting is what I do. I love the Soulsborne series and enjoy a good multiplayer.
