Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Goodwin Boss Guide: How To Beat

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Goodwin

Goodwin is one of the many bosses that you will encounter in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. You will face off against the boss during the Holy Day mission. In this Assassin’s Creed Valhalla guide, we are going to walk you through how you can beat Goodwin.

There are spoilers in this guide. If you do not want too spoil the game then you should not continue reading any further.

How To Beat Goodwin In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Goodwin uses a longsword with a shield. The recommended power level for the boss is 340 which makes him very powerful. You cannot take him on unless you have progressed the game to a certain degree and have invested enough points in the skill tree.

Goodwin has three weak points that you can use to your advantage. His right knee, right shoulder, and back. When you hit these points, the boss will be staggered and this will give you the chance to deal the damage that you need to deal in order to beat the boss.

If fighting with close-ranged weapons is your thing then you should use heavy attacks in order to break through his defenses and accurately hit the points that you need to. If you have a shield then you can block the attack of the enemy and then counter with attacks of your own.

Most of Goodwin’s attacks are slow, so you can see them coming. They are also marked with yellow so you know that they can be blocked or parried. Stronger attacks such as the stabs cannot be blocked or parried and are marked with red. You need to dodge these attacks in order to avoid taking damage.

Goodwin has a special ability that allows him to set his weapons on fire. This allows him to deal extra damage. You need to avoid taking multiple hits when this happens in order to stay alive.

Ranged attacks are also effective against the boss as Goodwin cannot block shots to his head. Once his health is critical he will use the Hellfire skill to limit your vision but you will still be able to continue the fight.

Should You Kill Goodwin?

If you decide to kill him, Eivor is going to kill Goodwin. If not then Goodwin is going to kill himself. Eivor then talks to Guthrum who decides not to wage war with Aelfred. So whether or not you decide to kill him does not really matter as he is going to die either way in the end.

This is how you can beat Goodwin in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. If you are interested in learning more about the game then you can check out our guide on how you can open and gain access to the Well of Urdr.
