Wildermyth is a tactical RPG game where you have to strategize and make your own decisions. At the start, you will find the game quite simple. You will have to defeat weak enemies and use a few abilities in fights. However, as the game progress, fights will be harder, and you will have to make more strategies to win. In the beginning, apart from combat, you need to look into a lot of things. This Wildermyth guide will act as a Beginner guide and provide tips and tricks that will help you win.
Wildermyth Tips And Tricks
The following are the tips and tricks that we recommend you keep in mind when playing Wildermyth:
Character Creation
You will have to pick your starting party at the beginning of the game. Here you will full freedom in how you want to create them. You can customize their looks, change their background story and even work on their traits. Having different traits will cause the character to have a different personality and will act accordingly.
Different Classes
There are three classes in Wildermyth: Hunter, Mystic, and Warrior. Warriors are the melee class and the tank for the group. Hunters use a bow to deal damage from a distance. Mystics are mages who use magic and the environment to kill their enemies. Each class has different passive and active abilities. I would recommend that you start with a normal party consisting of 1 Warrior, 1 Hunter, and 1 Mystic.
Build for Character Classes
There are certain builds for each class that suits them more than others.
For Warrior, I would recommend the Guardian build. In this build, your main abilities are Battledance, Long Reach, Vigilance, and Zealous Leap. Long Reach and Vigilance are the main abilities here, as you can have around 4 reaction strikes and a high range. If you pick a large spear, then you can harras your enemies from afar. An archer and a melee rogue are the optimal choices for party members. Finally, you can go for the Leaf or Fire Enchantment as they provide you with more shield and clean up low-health enemies faster.
For Hunter, I would recommend the Sniper build. In this build, your main abilities are Archery, Bowmaster, and Piercing Shot. The farther you are, the better as you can do more increased damage. You can also make use of the Archery ability to counter ranged attacks. You can go for the Leaf or Fire Enchantment as they increase the effect of Archery.
For Mystic, I would recommend the Tactician build. In this build, you can choose from Arches, Earthscribe, Humanist, Mythweaver, and Naturalist. This build allows you to have high movement and crowd control like stun, drag, pin, summon, and poison. In addition, you can provide good cover damage for your team while staying at a long range. Long Reach is also an ability to consider depending on your playstyle.
Relationship
As you progress through the game a little, you will have to make a choice. This choice will be to decide what the relationship between your character is. They can either be rivals, or friends, or even lovers. Depending on your choice, the combat of the game will slightly change. If two characters are rivals, then one can become more powerful than the other. If two are lovers, then they can receive buff in between battles and can even have children. Friends can also receive certain buffs.
Combat
Wildermyth has complex mechanics when it comes to combat. It is not everyone’s cup of tea. You can either play the fight in stealth or hack your way through the enemies. Your characters unlock abilities as they level up, and these abilities must then be used in combat properly. You will have to use your active and passive abilities perfectly to win every fight. However, you will not always attack the enemies as this is turn-based style combat, so your enemies will also get a chance to kill you.
You need to keep a safe distance from the enemies so that your range characters can harass the enemies without being in any danger. If you waste your turns into moving into enemy range, then this can cost heavily. Make sure to kill the weaker enemies first so that a low number of enemies get a chance to attack you. Mystics need to make use of the environment to trap or damage the enemies. Keep strategizing on every turn on what you have to do next.
Map
You can soon open up your map and see the campaigns that are available to you. Some campaigns need to be completed within a time limit, so be aware of that as well. You can take over a tile by killing the enemies in the area. After that, you can create outposts if you want on the tile to mark your surroundings. As more Incursions happen, enemies will start to destroy most of what you have built on the tiles. It’s your job to defend against these enemies.
Legacy Points
Legacy Points is basically your reward for completing campaigns on the map. Completing more objectives in a campaign can give you more points. You can then use these points to upgrade your character or in transformations and crafting. You can use Legacy points to recruit more heroes into your party.
