Fortnite: Battle Royale For Nintendo Switch Sets A New Record

In less than 24 hours

Fortnite For Switch

Even though Epic Games announced that they have no plans to bring Fortnite: Save The World to Nintendo Switch, the studio set a new record in less than 24 hours after it released Fortnite: Battle Royale on Nintendo Switch.

More precisely, the free-to-play battle royale video game developed and published by Epic Games has been downloaded over 2 million times between June 12 and June 13, 2018.

The record was announced by Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America in an interview for Polygon:

“Fortnite’s launch went extremely well — we had more than 2 million downloads in less than 24 hours,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, outlining that “it speaks to the power of the franchise, the engagement of our players and the resonance of being able to play it anytime, anywhere.”

Fortnite’s Bright Future

But the success of Fortnite: Battle Royale does not stop here; and we can see a new record set in the future. Since the video game is currently available on all gaming platforms except Android; it is easy to predict what will happen later this summer when the tile hits Google’s Play Store.

Alongside even more players, it means that Fortnite: Battle Royale will be available on all major gaming devices.

Meanwhile, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, which is Fortnite’s biggest competitor, remains a paid game for PC and Xbox One. The mobile versions (iOS and Android) rely on microtransactions, even though they are free.

Unfortunately, the issues reported by players regarding the cross-play between PS4 and Switch seem to continue.

Simply put, if you played Fortnite: Battle Royale on PlayStation 4 and wish to transfer your account to Nintendo Switch; you have to create a new account on the latter platform.

Your progress will not transfer and obviously, you can’t play with your friends from PlayStation Network.

If you are an Xbox One user, you won’t encounter these problems. You are free to access your Fortnite profile on both systems.

When asked how Sony intends to address the problems reported by so many Fortnite fans; a Sony spokesperson told BBC:

“We also offer Fortnite cross-play support with PC, Mac, iOS, and Android devices, expanding the opportunity for Fortnite fans on PS4 to play with even more gamers on other platforms.”

The answer, however, has nothing to do with the current issues Fortnite has on PlayStation 4. Because of this some players already decided to move to Xbox One.

For now, this seems a really good idea, especially after John Smedley’s explanation of why Sony is actually blocking the access; and due to the recent partnership between Microsoft and Nintendo to release a new Minecraft update.
