Fantasy Strike Devs Fire Shots At PlayStation 4 Crossplay Restriction

Fantasy Strike Crossplay

Sony does not allow crossplay for most of its games. This is something that fans do not like at all and developers have criticized Sony on its Playstation crossplay restrictions as well. Fantasy Strike Developers have also criticized Sony for not allowing crossplay on PlayStation.

Sony has only made exceptions for widely popular games such as Fortnite and Rocket League. It seems that the developers of Fantasy Strike have had enough now. The developer has a page for crossplay on its official website that mentions the following about Sony not allowing crossplay on PlayStation:

Can play with Steam players (but not Switch players, as per Sony’s restriction. When you create a FantasyTag [cross-account] on PlayStation 4, you do not create a password, because Sony does not allow account data from other platforms to be used on PlayStation 4, and it does not allow your PlayStation 4 account data to be used on other platforms either.

Fantasy Strike does have crossplay but it is limited by Sony. Who can play with who can be a bit confusing but the following are the main points that you need to know about crossplay:

  • Steam players: Can play with Switch players and PlayStation 4 players.

  • Switch players: Can play with Steam players (but not PlayStation 4 players, as per Sony’s restriction).

  • PlayStation 4: Can play with Steam players (but not Switch players, as per Sony’s restriction.)

These restrictions are due to Sony not approving crossplay. Developers are keen about this feature and the fans are asking for it for all the upcoming games. Sony will need to be more flexible about crossplay in the future but from what we have seen so far that seems a bit unlikely. We hope that Sony can do the right thing here and allow developers to introduce crossplay across the board.
