Fishing is the new mechanic that has been added to Genshin Impact. You need to fish in order to get The Catch and you can even use fish to get rewards and make food. In this Genshin Impact guide, we are going to go over how you can go fishing and tell you where you can find specific fish.
Fishing In Genshin Impact
Before you can start fishing in the game, there are a couple of things that you need to do. Make sure that you have completed the Serenitea Pot questline and have it unlocked. If you have already done that then check out your quest log and look for the world quest called Exploding Population.
Talk to Katheryne in Mondstadt and you will need to do a couple of tasks in order to start the Genshin Impact fishing tutorial. Once you have completed the quest, you will unlock fishing and get your first fishing rod. Now you can head out and fish anywhere that you like.
Fishing Spots And Bait
Most of the fishing spots have the same fish depending on the time of day that you visit the spots. Some fish only spawn in the day while others spawn at night. Once you have farmed them, they take 3 days to respawn. You should take advantage of the current fishing event in order to farm as much fish as possible. The following are the different kinds of baits that you need to catch the different kinds of fish in the game:
Fish Name | Bait Needed |
Rusty Koi | Fake Fly |
Aizen Medaka | Fruit Paste |
Crystalfish | Fruit Paste |
Tea-colored Shirakodai | False Worm |
Dawncatcher | Fruit Paste |
Pufferfish | Fake Fly |
Bitter Pufferfish | Fake Fly |
Venomspine Fish | Redrot |
Akai Maou | Redrot |
Snowstrider | Redrot |
Sweet-flower Medaka | Fruit Paste |
Golden Koi | Fake Fly |
Brown Shirakodai | False Worm |
Betta | Redrot |
While most of these fish are common and can be found in any fishing spot, there are some fish that only spawn under specific conditions and in specific locations. Snowstrider can be found in the lake north of the Starglow Cavern in Dragonspine. Abiding Angelfish can be found in the lake on Mt. Aocang. Raimei Angelfish can be found near the shipwreck east of the Tatarasuna in Inazuma from 18:00 to 6:00.
